Celebrating the launch of the exhibition Sovereign Stitches + Wild Weaves at Musée McCord, Indigenous Fashion Arts and the Montreal Kiki Ballroom Alliance join forces to bring you the Sovereignty Kiki Ball, the first of its kind in Montreal, merging cultures between Indigenous and Ballroom worlds. Sovereignty is defined as the inherent right of Indigenous peoples to govern themselves, their land, their cultures, and their resources independently of outside control. While our histories carry distinct struggles, Indigenous and Ballroom communities stand united in the fight to reclaim space, assert self-determination, and thrive beyond colonial and white dominant systems. Creative Direction and Visuals by GG 007.
