Matt Hadley, a former elite mountain biker and professional trails technologist, was living his dream in Canmore, Alberta - building and exploring trails and thriving in the outdoors. But while hiking in Utah, a freak accident changes everything. A devastating injury leads to the loss of his leg, threatening not only his career but the outdoor life he had built around it. How do you rebuild a life when everything you love feels out of reach? Supported by a community that rallies around him, Matt embarks on a demanding journey of recovery and reinvention. As he relearns how to work, play, and move through the mountains he calls home, Trailblazing reveals the strength, creativity, and determination it takes to redefine what’s possible after loss. Set against the breathtaking landscapes of the Canadian Rockies, this intimate documentary explores resilience, innovation, and the power of community in the face of adversity. It also highlights the barriers that persist in mountain environments - and celebrates the people, like Matt, who are redefining what it means to belong in these wild places.
