A FREE 2-Day Overnight Experience for Youth (Ages 15-20). This Lower Fraser Watershed Workforce program offers young people a chance to spend time on the land and water in relationship to the sc̓e:ɬxʷəy̓əm (Salmon River), at an active Foodlands corridor where restoration and long-term care of land and water are underway. This program is for young people who are curious about rivers, interested in how land and water are cared for, or wondering what watershed stewardship can look like in practice. Participants will spend time with experienced practitioners, gain hands-on experience, and learn about the people and careers involved in caring for healthy watersheds. This is a way to learn by being there. Since care for this place is ongoing, participants are able to learn from work that is unfolding over time rather than from a single project or moment. Day one will be focused on hands on work in sc̓e:ɬxʷəy̓əm Foodlands Site learning from experts. Day two will include paddling on the Fraser River in Voyageur canoes. A $50 refundable deposit is required to hold your spot. This will be refunded once the program is complete, or if given 1 week notice of cancellation. Further details including a packing list, activities, and waiver forms will be provided after registration.
