CLASS DESCRIPTION THE SINGING GARDENUsing the voice as an instrument, we will tune the body in tandem with others. Participants will be guided through vocal warm ups and improvisations before learning melodies, hockets and rounds!Songs learned will be a mixture of original compositions and varied folk music. This workshop draws from breath, voice and movement improvisation, qigong, Gyrokinesis®, choir, Olivia Rivière and Lisen Pousette’s growling work DUNKEL, and workshops taken with Meredith Monk and her vocal ensemble. We will read passages of Quantum Listening by Pauline Oliveros and The Gender of Sound by Anne Carson, to further inform our practice.
