CLASS DESCRIPTIONWe will work mostly in follow-the-leader/flow style from the side of the room to practice skills and elements from the longer combination which will happen towards the end of class. I&rsquo;m obsessed with practising a really intentional weight transfer pathway along my foot, pronation/supination of my feet and the internal/external rotation of my lower leg bones, femurs and innominates. We&rsquo;re going to squat, hinge and jump. Probably some rises. Probably one arabesque. It&rsquo;s not a problem if you don&rsquo;t speak ballet.&nbsp; I have been struggling with weight transfer, balance, pushing into the floor and feeling &ldquo;grounded&rdquo; for my entire dance career. With the help of Neil Sochasky and Andrew Swartz I have finally found some clues, and I will share these with anyone who wants to listen and try.&nbsp; No matter what, the soundtrack will be good.&nbsp; BIORecent winner of the Rumpus Award for the Most Tenacious Support Letter Writer, dance/theatre artist Kate Franklin has collaborated with 50 different choreographers and directors over the past 20ish years. She spent the first chapter of her career in Toronto/Tkaronto working as a dancer, choreographer and educator, and co-directing three female-led collectives, all with different missions/mandates. Based in Vancouver on unceded and traditional MST territories since 2012, she works as a performer/collaborator with Company 605, Justine A. Chambers, Tara Cheyenne Performance, Jeanette Kotowich/Movement Healing, and The Biting School, amongst others.Since 2016 she has been Associate Artistic Director of Modus Operandi, teaching and mentoring a group of exceptionally talented emerging dance artists. Kate&#39;s own choreographic work has been shown most recently at Dancing on the Edge. Kate teaches because she is still fully engaged in learning. Strength training at Madlab School of Fitness has been a &nbsp;main focus for her for 9 years. Her work with Montr&eacute;al-based movement coach Neil Sochasky is a huge current influence.
