On 31st October 2026, I&#39;ll be taking on one of the biggest personal challenges - a 50K ultra marathon. I&#39;m not running for a medal or to achieve a personal best; I&#39;m running for my son, Kit, who has autism, and to raise money for Umbrellas Lincoln, an incredible local charity that supports young people with additional needs and their families. Being Kit&#39;s dad has taught me so much. Autism brings its own challenges, but has also shown me the importance of patience, understanding, acceptance and celebrating every achievement, no matter how big or small. Organisations like Umbrellas make a real difference by providing support, opportunities and a sense of community for families like ours. 50 kilometres will be tough! There will be moments when I want to stop, but I&#39;ll keep thinking about Kit and why I started. Every step will be for him and for every family that benefits from the amazing work Umbrellas does. I&#39;m incredibly lucky that I won&#39;t be facing this alone. My friends from Lincoln Run Collective will be running with me along the route and helping to raise money. Knowing they&#39;ll be there to encourage me through the difficult miles means more than I can put into words.
