Our gentle guinea pig is an important part of life at Wellgate Community Farm 🐹💚&nbsp; Tony is a staple of our community farm, and for many isn&#39;t just a guinea pig- Every week she helps members of the community, young or old, to help build confidence, learn to care for these amazing creatures, and develop a long lasting respect and care for animals. Throughout her life, she has made an impact on every person she has made contact with; that being schools, SEN facilities, residential homes and our local families visiting our site, providing them with not only the calm that animals can give, but also the love, and endless smiles. Sadly, this week Tony has suffered a severe eye injury. She has been on antibiotics these past few days, however the injury has developed and we have been advised by the vets that the eye urgently&nbsp;needs to be removed to relieve her suffering, and give her the chance to live comfortably again.&nbsp; As a community farm, like most other small charities, our running costs have increased significantly, and this year we have seen our expenses rise considerably; We always prioritise the health and welfare of our animals, however an unexpected vet cost of &pound;1,250 is something we cannot cover alone. We are reaching out to our wonderful community to help us give Tony the treatment she urgently needs and deserves, to return her comfort and &nbsp;continue her amazing work of supporting the community, and providing endless laughter, smiles and love as she so frequently does. Any donation, no matter how big or small, will make a huge difference to Tony, and help us get her the care she urgently needs. If you are unable to donate, sharing her story with others would mean just as much. Together, we can give Tony the chance to heal and continue bringing joy to everyone who meets her.
