Make Christmas Special for a Child in Redditch Hi, I'm Elaine, and as Church & Mission Support Coordinator for the Redditch Mission Area and leader of the 'Make Christmas Special Toy Appeal,' I'm asking for your help to bring Christmas to our community. It may seem unusual to be thinking about Christmas 2026 when we're still technically in Summer, but for us at the Redditch Mission Area, this important season is already on our minds. We are acutely aware that for many households in our community, circumstances conspire to dim the Christmas spirit. In 2025, our appeal brought a happy Christmas to an incredible 1,520 local children, providing them with presents and a sense of belonging. It also prevented a number of suicide attempts - it's that powerful! Our aim is simple yet profound: to ensure every family experiences the joy of Christmas, with no child going without a gift, or knowing the love of God. A Collective Mission The toy appeal is supported by a wonderful team of dedicated volunteers from local churches and the wider community. It is their tireless effort that helps make the event a heartwarming and magical time for families and a true expression of God’s love. We are incredibly blessed to also have the support of numerous local partners, including the 12 Redditch Mission Area churches, Churches Together in Redditch, the Kingfisher Centre, the Redditch Business Improvement District, and the Redditch Standard. This vital work taps directly into the core of what the Redditch Mission Area (RMA) strives to achieve. As a new initiative for the Diocese of Worcester and a registered charity (Charity number 1213391), our aim is to facilitate and enable churches to be healthy and sustainable, fostering unity and demonstrating God’s love across our entire town. This is a monumental task, too large for any single organisation, but one where collective effort truly shines. You can learn more about our wider work at https://cofe-redditch.org.uk . Reaching Every Child What makes our appeal so impactful is its deeply inclusive nature. We provide toys to children aged from birth to 17, regardless of their race, religion, or gender. Children are referred to us by a wide network of trusted agencies, including social services, job centres, schools, the police, and women’s refuges, ensuring that our support reaches those most genuinely in need across all corners of Redditch. This collaborative community approach allows us to make a tangible difference where it matters most. Your Support Matters We have meticulously organised the experience for families to choose suitable gifts in a dignified way, in a pleasant environment and as close to a shopping experience as possible. However, this year, we anticipate the need will be greater than ever before. We believe that every child deserves to experience the joy of Christmas, and with your help, we can make that a reality. Your support will not only give us the opportunity to provide essential gifts but will also demonstrate your commitment to the welfare and happiness of children. Imagine the smiles you could help create—smiles that will last long after Christmas morning. The Redditch Mission Area Make Christmas Special Toy Appeal offers a unique chance for you to collaborate directly with a well-established, impactful local initiative, making a profound and immediate difference in the lives of thousands of children. A sincere thank you for considering this urgent and meaningful appeal.
