Last year we lost an incredible human being, who was an amazing colleague and friend of mine, at Merchants&rsquo; Academy Secondary School. Paul Moseley was a Maths teacher, who was loved by staff and students alike and is always referred to as a &ldquo;legend&rdquo; whenever spoken about. He had a great sense of humour and an absolute heart of gold; he was the type of man who would do anything for anyone and would always lift your mood when you were having a bad day. Moseley always had your back. Sadly, Paul had his own demons and took his own life last May. As Paul was an avid Crystal Palace supporter, Jack and I will be&nbsp;cycling from Merchants&rsquo; Academy in Withywood, Bristol, to Crystal Palace&rsquo;s stadium, Selhurst Park, in London - a distance of approximately 141 miles. Although I have no prior cycling experience and have only recently recovered from Achilles tendon surgery, we&rsquo;re determined to complete this ride in memory of Paul. ⁠The date will be Saturday 30th May 2026. Aiming to leave Merchants&rsquo; around 05:30 and reach Selhurst Park around 16:00. As our first fundraising milestone, we are aiming to raise &pound;2,008, a meaningful figure as 2008 was the year Paul began teaching at Merchants&rsquo;. Reaching this initial target would be a fitting tribute to the impact he went on to have on so many young people and colleagues. Any donation to the charity Talk Club would be hugely appreciated. They create spaces where men can speak openly, listen, and feel less alone. Your donation supports trained facilitators, safe venues, and practical tools that keep these conversations going.
