Save The Hope is launching a fundraising campaign to support a meaningful and deeply needed initiative &mdash; the organisation and continuation of weekly Orthodox religious education for children in the cell school of the Church of the Holy Ascension in the village of Butan, Kozloduy Municipality, Bulgaria.The programme will be carried out with the voluntary participation of Father Galin Hristov and a qualified educator who will work with the children in a thoughtful, accessible and age-appropriate way. Our aim is for the religious education sessions to take place every Sunday and to become a regular, meaningful and much-loved activity for children from the local school, and hopefully also for children from the surrounding villages.This initiative is not intended to be just another lesson. We want it to become a warm, memorable and inspiring experience &mdash; a gentle introduction to the world of Orthodox Christianity, Christian virtues, Bulgarian traditions, history and spiritual heritage.The cell school is located beneath the church itself and is in excellent condition. It has preserved its authentic traditional character and includes a small museum exhibition, creating a unique atmosphere of history, memory and continuity. The space also has internet access and the possibility for interactive learning, allowing Orthodox education to be presented in a modern, engaging and understandable way for children.Through the funds raised, we hope to provide suitable conditions for the weekly Sunday sessions, educational materials, snacks and drinks for our young guests. We want every child who enters this place to feel welcome, valued and loved &mdash; and to discover that the church can be a place of light, joy, knowledge and hope.The initial budget required is &pound;500. This amount is an aspirational target and would help us begin the programme in a more organised and stable way, with better conditions for the children.
