White text reading "14 48 LONDON" and "the world's quickest theatre festival" is set against a dark blue, cloudy background.

WHAT IS 14/48? 14/48 is a simple and fairly unreasonable proposition: 14 plays written, cast, directed, rehearsed, scored, designed, premiered in 48 hours. A theme is drawn on Thursday night. Writers hand in scripts on Friday morning; directors and actors are drawn into teams; designers, musicians and technicians build the shows together. The audience sees the first seven plays on Friday and chooses the next theme. By Saturday night there are 14 world premieres where, on Thursday, there was nothing. 14/48 UK has been running festivals in Leicester for more than a decade, with work in Wolverhampton as well. Our London team brought that model to The Cockpit in 2026. WHO GETS TO BE IN THE ROOM? Access is not an afterthought for us. Of the 64 artists who took part last year, 38 were newcomers to 14/48, well beyond our commitment to make at least 25% of places available to first-time 14/48 participants.Participation was free, with meals and refreshments provided. Our all-queer, all-migrant producing team also used a year-round open interest form and rotating invitation committee to reach beyond our existing networks. Of the 52 artists who answered our demographic survey, 56% identified as LGBTQIA+, 54% identified as global majority, 48% as migrants/immigrants, and 37% as disabled or neurodivergent. We want to do it again without asking artists to pay for the opportunity to take part. Your support would allow us to secure the festival while keeping participation free. Thank you for your support.
