Blackburn Hope Foundation raises funds for East Lancashire Hospice, providing vital care and support to families affected by cancer. We unite the community to ensure patients receive the dignity and compassion they deserve during difficult times.

Hi, my name is Saffy and this is my story. I&rsquo;m 10 years old. I was born with a heart condition called VSDs, which meant I had holes in my heart. In fact, 50% of the heart septum wall was missing! Since I was little, I have had to have lots of operations and treatments at Alder Hey Children&rsquo;s Hospital. My first operation was open-heart surgery at just 4 weeks old! Alder Hey has been a really important part of my life. The doctors, nurses and everyone there have looked after me through some difficult times and helped me get through each operation. About 5 years ago, I had to have a pacemaker fitted. It was another big step in my journey, but once again, the amazing team at Alder Hey were there to look after me. I just turned 10 years old in June this year, which feels like a really special milestone. I&rsquo;ve been through a lot in my 10 years, and I&rsquo;m so grateful to be able to celebrate this milestone with my family and the people who have helped me along the way. I&rsquo;m now raising money for Alder Hey through BHF because I want to give something back to the hospital that has done so much for me and so many other children like me. I know how important Alder Hey is to children and their families, and I would love to help them continue to provide the amazing care they give every day. Every donation, no matter how small, would mean so much to me.
