Caithness Youth Pipe Band inspires youth through music and community engagement. They aim to raise funds for participation in the New York City Tartan Day Parade by collectively covering the distance from Thurso to New York through various activities.

The Caithness Youth Pipe Band is thrilled to announce ambitious plans to take part in the 29th Annual New York City Tartan Day Parade, scheduled for April 2027. While 2027 is the target, the band recognises that the scale of fundraising required may mean the trip takes place in 2028 instead. The inspiration for this exciting journey comes fresh from the band&rsquo;s experience performing at the very first Tartan Day Parade in Edinburgh in 2025, where the energy, atmosphere, and sense of pride left a lasting impression on both players and supporters. Now, the band is preparing to take things to the next level. A group of 34 talented young musicians hopes to travel to New York City and proudly represent Caithness on the world stage, marching along the iconic Fifth Avenue in front of thousands of spectators. Beyond the parade itself, the trip promises to be a truly unforgettable cultural experience. Plans include a range of performances at landmark locations across New York, offering the young players a rare opportunity to showcase their skills internationally while creating lifelong memories. To bring this vision to life, the band will embark on an extensive fundraising campaign, with support from the local community, sponsors, and supporters playing a vital role in making the dream a reality.
