Southsea Sangha fosters community through Tibetan Buddhist practices, emphasizing compassion and liberation. They offer meditation retreats and teachings to help individuals navigate personal and collective struggles, promoting healing and connection.

With so much suffering in our world, how do we meet ourselves and one another with curiosity, courage, and a deep commitment to awakening for the benefit of all beings? How do we learn to expand our capacity to stay present to even the most challenging experiences so that we can move through them together, without causing more suffering? &nbsp; We will explore what supports a felt sense of safety, dignity, and belonging in the body and the critical role joy plays in our collective liberation. Embracing Tara as the World Struggles for Liberation &nbsp;-&nbsp;A Daylong Meditation Retreat&nbsp; w/ Lama Rod Owens It seems as if we are living through a polycrisis, struggling to learn lessons through economic instability, political unrest, climate change, and various forms of systematic violence.&nbsp; However, this moment is also inviting us back to an authentic indignity. We are being asked to remember how to be in relationship to the land, to our brokenheartedness, and in gentle healing relationships with others. In the face of so much change we may find it difficult to maintain our physical and emotional balance. In Tibetan Buddhism, Tara is the female Buddha of compassion. Called Drolma in Tibetan, her name means Mother Liberator. Her practice is a profound strategy that empowers us to hold space for our discomfort and can be a tremendous practice that can wake us up to our own innate wisdom, compassion, love, and fierceness. Her practice is the practice for these times. In this retreat we will practicing meeting this moment through the profound practice of Tara as we deepen our compassion, love, trust, and fierceness through meditation, movement, chanting, and discussion. Lunch will not be provided due to the faciliaties we have available on site.&nbsp; There are several delicious and friendly local cafe&#39;s near by which are independently run. Lunch break will be 1hr long.&nbsp;COVIDIf you are experiencing symptoms we ask that you do not attend the retreat.If you are unable to attend the retreat due to Covid related reasons, a full refund will be offered on request. PARKING There are 10 parking spaces which are available on a first come first serve basis, and 2 disabled parking spaces on site also. ACCESSThe venue we use offers non step access into the building via a gentle sloping path. We can provide a movable ramp to assist with wheelchair access over the lip of the door entrance. The lip is approx 2 inches high. There is one ground floor loo the venue uses as a designated access loo. There are no hoists or other additional features other than it allows ample space for wheelchair users and carers to enter. The outdoor space used for movement or walking practice is also accessible via pathways. There is no hearing loop installed in the main teaching room (school hall). The teacher will be using a mic and their voice will be amplified. There are 2 designated access parking spaces adjacent to the entrace of the site. What&#39;s Love Got to Do With It? - A Daylong Meditation Retreat&nbsp; w/ Rosie Holmes &amp; Liz Cooke This being human can be challenging. We are living in uncertain times. In many cases, our hearts, minds and bodies are deeply tired, sometimes swinging between fear, overwhelm and numbness. &lsquo;Love&rsquo;, can sometimes start to feel like an abstract concept.&nbsp; This day of practice will offer our hearts a chance to rest, be refreshed, and be listened to. We will come together, in-person and in community, to&nbsp;reconnect with our senses and incline our hearts towards their four natural qualities of kindness, compassion, joy and steadiness. Through guided meditation practices, poetry, discussion, and quiet time to just be with ourselves, we will explore ways to support and nourish the tired heart. These practices can also reconnect us to a &lsquo;Love&rsquo; that is less abstract and more active, playful, and able to respond to life with care and wisdom. She recently completed the <a fr-original-style="" href="https://gaiahouse.co.uk/cdl/" style="text-decoration-color: currentcolor; -webkit-user-select: auto; box-sizing: inherit;" target="_blank">Community Dharma Leader</a> training through Gaia House, and she offers a weekly drop-in meditation session in Petersfield, where she lives. Rosie has taught meditation courses and workshops since 2018 and has several decades of personal practice and exploration. Rosie has worked in education for the past 20ish years and currently works as a Learning Designer and educator. More recently, through sitting with Lama. Rod Owen&#39;s community, both online and in &nbsp;her role as his UK retreats coordinator, Liz has taken inspiration from the New Saints tradition which has seen her thread ancestor practice, ritual, ceremony and mantra into her practice. A mother and visual artist Liz takes refuge in silence as often as possible whilst creating her work. Liz first began volunteering with Southsea Sangha in 2016, and she is looking forward to be able to continue supporting this wonderful sangha by being part of The Dharma of Now.
