The trustees initiatives, such as fundraising for: <ul class="lxcl-ul"><li value="1" class="lxcl-listItem" dir="ltr">a new swimming pool and </li><li value="2" class="lxcl-listItem" dir="ltr">improving the theatres sound, lighting and seating</li><li value="3" class="lxcl-listItem" dir="ltr">healthy living</li></ul>foster creativity and connection among the towns residents and locality. Meaning the bike was unusable. Unable to obtain a part locally, the only option was to return to base on Monday 7th, with all the gear and trailer, arrange a repair with Pearce Cycles in Ludlow and complete the ride later. &nbsp;Due to so many other commitments, the earliest Dave can find 3-4 days clear is from 4th October, weather permitting. He WILL&nbsp;complete the ride and make it to the summit of Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon! &nbsp;He apologises to all his sponsors, but it was beyond his control, despite a full service of the bike before the ride. Dave Luckhurst (&lsquo;Lucky&rsquo;) Dave&rsquo;s Fundraising Story There are two main reasons I want to help raise funds for SpArC&rsquo;s theatre renovation. My late wife, Julie (who passed away about a year ago), and I were regular users together of SpArC Theatre, and she loved going to the rich variety of events arranged by Liz Still, our brilliant theatre manager. The Theatre is so fundamental to the cultural and entertainment side of Bishop&rsquo;s Castle (BC) and a social hub out here in the sticks. It means we have &lsquo;the world of entertainment&rsquo; right here in BC, without the travel and emissions! I want that success to continue, as Julie would have done. Secondly, Julie wanted to climb Snowdon with me a few years ago, but, as her illness grew, it became impossible. I want to &lsquo;climb&rsquo; it once more in her memory,and this seemed a fitting way to combine the two elements. It will also be exactly 10 years ago I did a similar fundraiser for Save the SpArC to help save it from closure, so - perfect timing.&nbsp; I&rsquo;m planning a modified re-run of my mountain bike (MTB) ride from BC to the summit of Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon over 4-5 days, starting on 5th September 2026. Instead of a pre-dawn start, as last time from BC with giant &lsquo;SpArClers&rsquo;, I&rsquo;ll be at the Michaelmas Fair, leading the steam traction engines and veteran vehicles procession down the main street. No pressure, then; only from behind! And great publicity. As long as I don&#39;t get run over by a steam traction engine, I&#39;ll be on myway by 2:30pm. After 3-4 days unsupported cycle camping with my *single-wheeled trailer, much of it off-road, to Yr Wyddfa/Snowdon, camping in Llanberis will be followed by a 2am rise and a pre-dawn MTB ride, without the trailer, up the Llanberis Path bridleway to the summit. I plan to be on top by around 6am. Last time, despite September&rsquo;s 40mph winds, rain and single degrees C, I managed to actually cycle up about 90% of the route, until steps and loose scree meant it became a push-bike! I&rsquo;m hoping for a live broadcast again from the summit on BBC Radio Shropshire around 6am onwards. Maybe a slot on Midlands Today or even The One Show! (has anyone got any contacts there?). The Snowdon summit attempt must be pre-dawn, as the Snowdonia Park Authority Code of Conduct for bikes means they should be off the mountain by 10am, to leave it for walkers. A hearty breakfast at Pete&rsquo;s Eats in Llanberis (famous amongst mountain climbers), will be followed by cycling to Bangor, to return by train. The target for the theatre fund-raising is about &pound;120,000 or so. I know times are hard (they always are) but I would like to aim for c&pound;2K raised by this ride (&pound;1,600 last time) and hope I can do it, physically, at 78. Your gift to the SpArC Good Boost Healthy Living expansion keeps sport and arts in Bishop&#39;s Castle at the heart of South West Shropshire.&nbsp; Since the recent opening of the new pool, the new Good Boost aquatic exercise sessions are proving hugely popular, with places regularly fully booked. Good Boost is an award-winning, evidence-based programme that uses waterproof tablets to provide personalised exercises in the pool. It is particularly beneficial for people living with arthritis, joint pain, mobility issues and other long-term health conditions, helping them improve fitness, confidence and wellbeing in a safe and supportive environment. Currently, we have five waterproof tablets, limiting sessions to five participants at a time and we now have 25 people using the tablets. &nbsp;Demand continues to grow, and we want to make this valuable service available to more people in our community.&nbsp; Our goal is to raise &pound;1,500 to purchase five additional tablets, costing &pound;300 each.
