Trustee Takes on Ilkley Half Marathon to Raise Funds for The HiveA dedicated trustee from The Hive Community Centre is lacing up her running shoes this summer to help raise vital funds for the Silsden charity. Jan Jones, a trustee for The Hive, will be taking part in the Ilkley Half Marathon on Sunday 12 July, with the race starting at 10.30am. Through the challenge, Jan hopes to raise much-needed funds to support the charity&#39;s ongoing work within the local community. The Hive, based in Silsden, provides a wide range of services and activities that support people of all ages, from expectant and new parents through to older residents. As well as offering early years support and youth provision, the charity also delivers wellbeing initiatives and practical help to local families experiencing hardship. With increasing demand for community support services and continued pressures on charitable funding, fundraising efforts such as Jan&#39;s half marathon challenge play an important role in helping The Hive continue its work. Speaking about why she chose to take on the challenge, Jan said:&quot;The Hive is a charity-run community centre based in Silsden, West Yorkshire. It serves the whole community of Silsden and the surrounding areas, with a focus on supporting young families and young people in Silsden. At times when families are struggling to make ends meet, The Hive is a lifeline for many, providing advice and practical support. However, like any other Charity in difficult times, funding to keep going is always a challenge. As a trustee at The Hive, I know how important this facility is for families in Silsden and the surrounding areas. On July 12th, I have signed up to run the Ilkley Half Marathon , and if you feel like supporting this wonderful and hardworking charity, please donate. The Hive has served the community for over 10 years, providing support for families, young people and vulnerable residents. Following the closure of our pre-school in July, we&#39;re transforming The Hive and will be changing our main hall into a new Play Village and out current Pre-school will be transformed in to a multi use room for our daytime activities, youth provision and meeting room. &nbsp;This is to ensure The Hive remains sustainable and continues supporting local people for years to come. We&#39;re currently raising funds and seeking sponsorship for specific items needed as part of the refurbishment. Help Us Build Silsden&rsquo;s Dirt Pump Track at The Hive 🚲 Young people in Silsden have told us they need more safe, positive places to spend time, be active and have fun with friends. An informal dirt track is already being used by local children and teenagers &mdash; showing there is a real passion for biking and outdoor adventure in our community. We want to work with young people, not just for them, to transform this into a safe, sustainable dirt pump track that they can help design, build and look after.The project will create: 🚲 A dedicated safe space for bikes🌱 Opportunities for young people to take pride in their local area💬 A chance for young people to have their voice heard and shape something that belongs to them🤝 Positive relationships between young people, volunteers and the wider community💚 A free, accessible facility encouraging physical activity, confidence and wellbeing We&rsquo;re now looking for local people, families and businesses to get involved &mdash; helping with fundraising, spreading the word and supporting young people to make this happen.
