Wimbledon Synagogue fosters community engagement by providing a platform for dialogue between local candidates and residents, ensuring voices are heard on critical local issues like services, housing, and environmental policies.

Our local councils make decisions that affect our daily lives, from the upkeep of our parks to the support provided for our schools. With the local elections taking place on 7 May 2026, we have a clear opportunity to hear directly from those who wish to represent us. We are holding two evenings at the synagogue to ensure you can meet the candidates for your specific borough. Representatives of all major local parties have been invited, including Labour, the Conservatives, the Liberal Democrats, Reform UK, the Green Party, and Independent candidates. Members of the community will have the space to pose the questions that matter most to them and their families. If you are concerned about local services, housing, or environmental policies, you will find this an ideal time to engage with the democratic process in a friendly environment. Rabbi Josh Levy, Rebecca Singerman-Knight, and Rabbi Adrian Schell read from their essays and shared the insights that shaped their writing.
