Thirty guides appeared, right up to the late 1980s. Three years ago - following the same pattern - Stephen&rsquo;s &lsquo;Northumberland - A Guide&rsquo; &nbsp;appeared. Now, its companion - &lsquo;County Durham - A Guide&rsquo; is here! With 200 black and white, and thirty colour photographs, and a gazetteer on countless towns and villages, we encounter - &nbsp;&lsquo;a county that &lsquo;knows its own mind&rsquo;!&nbsp;
