STRONG ENOUGH TO FEELBoys’ Emotional Wellbeing, Healthy Masculinity & Raising Emotionally Secure Men Understanding the boy beneath the behaviour through attachment, neuroscience, nervous-system regulation, emotional development and connection. Delivered by Saran Kaur Volunteer Awaken Genius Director & Integrative Psychotherapist Strong Enough to Feel is a therapeutic and psychoeducational workshop exploring what boys need emotionally in order to grow into secure, resilient, emotionally intelligent and psychologically healthy men. Drawing on Saran Kaur’s psychotherapeutic work, alongside her background and strong interest in neuroscience and quantum physics, the workshop explores boys’ emotional development through the lenses of attachment, childhood experiences, nervous-system regulation, identity, relationships and beliefs about masculinity. At the heart of the workshop is the message that healthy masculinity is not the absence of emotion. Strength can include emotional awareness, self-control, accountability, compassion, vulnerability, healthy boundaries, courage and the ability to ask for support. Saran will help participants look beyond behaviours such as anger, aggression, defiance, withdrawal or emotional shutdown and become curious about the boy beneath the behaviour. Workshop Takeaways Participants will leave with: A deeper understanding of what may sit beneath challenging behaviour. Greater awareness of attachment and how emotional security influences development. An understanding of fight, flight, freeze and shutdown responses. Practical tools for supporting boys experiencing anger, overwhelm or emotional shutdown. Strategies for developing emotional literacy and helping boys name and communicate their feelings. Ways to respond to behaviour without shame, humiliation or emotional suppression. A greater understanding of how messages such as “man up,” “boys don’t cry” and “don’t be weak” can influence emotional development. Practical approaches to building confidence, self-worth and healthy identity. Tools for strengthening connection, trust and secure attachment. An understanding of how healthy masculinity can include strength, courage, vulnerability, empathy and emotional intelligence. Strategies for modelling healthy communication, boundaries and accountability. Greater awareness of how childhood experiences can influence adult relationships, emotional regulation, intimacy and parenting. An understanding of intergenerational patterns and how emotionally healthy relationships can help break unhelpful cycles. Practical ways parents, carers, educators and professionals can become emotionally present and supportive role models. A renewed perspective on the question: “What kind of men are we helping our boys become?” Ultimately, Strong Enough to Feel is about helping boys understand themselves and creating environments where they feel safe enough to communicate, connected enough to seek support and secure enough to develop a healthy identity. The aim is to help raise boys who can experience emotion without shame, communicate openly, regulate themselves, take responsibility for their actions, build healthy relationships and grow into emotionally secure men who are strong enough to feel.
