It’s founding principle was: Never again will one generation of veterans abandon another.  In 1983, it became a membership organization, the Vietnam Veterans of America, committed to one another and to the social good and determined to act as citizens using democratic processes to rectify what they understood to be injustices of popular belief and public policy. Today, VVA has a membership of over 80,000. Throughout its history, VVA has been instrumental in enacting legislation that has benefitted all veterans including an improved GI Bill, the Toxic Exposure Act allowing compensation for Agent Orange exposure and from the burn pits.  VVA Chapter 1024 is committed to the principle of helping all veterans. Larry Keil, 5th Special Forces Group (Airborne) or SFGA.  Capt. Keil was assigned to MACV-SOG CCS in Vietnam from 1969-70 under the direction of General Westmoreland where he served as a Radio Operator for the 5th SFGA.  Capt. Keil was awarded several meritorious awards for his valor during his service in Vietnam including being awarded a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for his exemplary service going above and beyond the call of duty.  He is survived by his four children and five grandchildren who want to keep his legacy alive by continuing to "Free the Oppressed" veterans that are still living under the oppression of their experiences while sacrificing everything in the defense of the United States Constitution and the freedoms of this great nation.  De Oppresso Liber!
