Years after hurricanes Maria, Irma and Fiona, thousands of Puerto Ricans live in homes with badly damaged or incomplete roofs - many still covered by the remnants of blue tarps.   PRoTechos addresses this crisis with a unique and effective approach: we rebuild roofs in the most vulnerable communities while providing carpentry training. Through the PRoTechos Learn and Earn program, apprentices learn to build resilient roofs as part of a hands-on, supervised course where they work on roofs in these underserved communities.  They graduate from the program with much needed carpentry skills, moving on to work in a related field and reducing Puerto Rico's carpentry shortage.  Communities have responded to our work. PRoTechos constantly receives requests to repair roofs from communities and partners all over Puerto Rico. Homeowners are forever appreciative of the dedication and heart our teams put into repairing their homes.  Our trainees are grateful for the new skills and job opportunities. However, without your help, our work cannot continue. We will need additional funding to be able to continue to fulfill our mission of building a stronger Puerto Rico through roof reconstruction and vocational training. Here are some of the ways your donations can help: $7,000 will pay for materials to build one resilient roof for a Puerto Rican family in need. $1300 will pay for 3 months of Learn and Earn stipends for 1 carpentry trainee.   $200 will pay for 1 Fall Protection Kit with 11 ft. Self-Retracting Lifeline to protect our trainers and trainees. $150 will pay for 20 pieces of lumber (2x4x10). $60 will pay for a battery pack for a cordless drill. Together, we can strengthen Puerto Rico, One Roof at a Time.  We are a Puerto Rico 1101.01 and US 501(c)(3) tax-exempt and CECFL-approved nonprofit; all donations are tax deductible to the full extent of the law.
