Your donation rebuilds more than roofs — it rebuilds hope, right when families need it most. As hurricane season continues through November, PRoTechos is working to rebuild up to 3 vulnerable roofs for families most at risk, while training new apprentices in resilient carpentry. Every roof completed before the next storm means one more family with a safer home. Nearly a decade after Hurricane María, thousands of families in Puerto Rico still live under blue tarps or in homes weakened by storm damage, earthquakes, and years of deferred repairs — and every hurricane season raises the risk. The island also faces a shortage of skilled construction workers, slowing recovery for the communities that need it most. PRoTechos' Learn and Serve program trains residents in carpentry and resilient roof construction while rebuilding real homes for families who cannot afford repairs on their own. Your gift helps us:

Rebuild up to 3 vulnerable roofs for families most at risk ahead of storm season

Provide hands-on training in resilient construction from experienced carpenters

Equip graduates with employable skills that help close Puerto Rico's construction workforce shortage

Each roof rebuilt provides lasting shelter for a family, while each trained participant strengthens the local workforce. Over time, this reduces housing vulnerability, expands employment, and builds a more resilient Puerto Rico — long after the project ends. PRoTechos is a Puerto Rico 1101.01 and U.S. 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, CECFL-approved nonprofit; all donations are tax-deductible to the full extent of the law. Act 60 residents (formerly Acts 20 and 22) who are required to donate to a Puerto Rico 1101.01 entity may satisfy $10,000 of their annual requirement through a gift to PRoTechos.

You just changed that for one of them. Your gift helps put a strong, storm-resistant roof over a family that couldn't rebuild on their own — and it does something more. Through our Learn and Serve program, the hands that build that roof belong to Puerto Ricans learning a trade, earning a future, and staying to rebuild their own island. Every gift makes two families stronger. This is what recovery looks like nearly a decade after María: neighbors rebuilding for neighbors, one roof at a time. Thank you for being part of it.
