In 2018, UT FSA started the Philanthropic Academic Scholarship, founded by Melissa Singsing, 2017-2018 Co-President, with hopes of encouraging senior students in the Philippines to pursue higher education, while also eliminating some of the financial pressures that come with obtaining a college degree. We have been offering this opportunity to students around the Philippines, partnering with a different high school yearly, however, this year we decided to broaden our impact and offer our scholarship to high schoolers who live in a specific region. This year, the Singsing Scholarship will be open to any high school senior who lives in the province of Mindoro. Currently, Mindoro province is experiencing a drought due to the impacts of El Niño, causing many damaged crops and losses for families who farm. We believe this scholarship would greatly help seniors in high school who have families that are affected by this dry spell by lifting any financial burdens that they may have.  Though we have organized countless fundraisers throughout the semester, we still need as much help as we can get. We would greatly appreciate it if you would consider becoming a sponsor of our project. Our goal is to turn the dreams of underprivileged Filipino students into reality and send them to college.
