“Keep some room in your heart for the unimaginable” - Mary Oliver The Little River Coalition is fundraising to purchase 66 acres on the Little River Watershed and protect the land so that it can be used to foster community gathering and land connection. At this time of climate crisis, corporate greed, colonization, and cultural unraveling, please help the Midcoast Maine community to take another step toward collective liberation.  The Little River Land Trust will achieve these goals:<ul><li>A commons accessible outside of capitalism that would function in the gift economy.</li><li>The land would be used to support Wabanaki lifeways and create community access to the Little River, outdoor event space, and more. The coalition has a strong commitment to support access for the BIPOC communities of Maine.</li><li>Any donations given to the community house for training use or other activities, minimally 20% will be moved to Wabanaki-led organizations.</li><li>The coalition ensures joint stewardship with Wabanaki communities and black and brown-led organizations.</li><li>The 66 acres would be stewarded with Regenerative Forestry, Ecological Restoration, and Permaculture practices to ensure the land heals and all species thrive.</li><li>Protect a large section of the Little River watershed which is threatened by the proposed Nordic industrial and multinational fish factory.</li><li>Organizational base and training site for applying the Internal Family Systems therapeutic framework to social change. </li><li>Hosting a two year training program for young adults, preparing them to be community leaders in an unpredictable world (4 months per year on site).</li><li>A community craft/maker space including a bike shop, pottery wheel, kiln, looms, woodworking, sewing machines, printing press, spinning wheels, and more.</li><li>Shared use of the house for community initiatives such as youth programs, nature education, retreats, healing spaces, supporting the housing insecure, and more. What can you imagine?</li></ul> Our fundraising goals are $425,000 to purchase the land and the house, and $50,000 for improvements to the property. We have until April 15th to raise the funds, or the community will lose the land and it will be placed on the open market. If, however, the fundraising is successful, the land will be turned into a community land trust through <a href="https://landincommon.org/">Land in Common</a>. The land is located at 3 Adney Place off of Edgecomb Rd. next to the Possibility Alliance and Belfast Cohousing, and was formerly Riverland School. Thanks to Riverland for giving us this opportunity!
