The Yachay Wasi Ayllu (family) was created at a time when racism and sexism prevented the indigenous population from being the protagonist of their own education. Historically, families have been oppressed in many ways, but especially the wawakuna (boys and girls), who in an attempt to have an education had to attend schools where language and culture were different from their own.
