The sixth graders of Washington Elementary School in Sacramento, CA are eagerly looking forward to next February's weeklong trip to Westminster Woods outdoor education camp in the redwoods of Occidental, California. For the past several years, the school district (SCUSD) was able to fund the full cost of this memorable field trip, but has recently had to make deep budget cuts. Each local school must now fund the full cost of the trip. At $549 per student, it is a challenging expense for many families. At camp the kids will go on hikes, learn about forest and stream ecologies, and participate in a high ropes course. Sixth grade science camp has become a beloved tradition, and the students look forward to it all year. For many students it is their first extended time away from home. Can you help out? Please consider a one-time or monthly donation to support the 6th grade science trip for Washington Elementary students! Thank you for your generosity and community building.
