This donation will help us achieve our mission to address multifaceted forms of oppression and end sexual violence by empowering survivors through person-first services and community engagement.

Medical advocacy:

  1. Provide crisis counseling 
  2. Provide information about medical concerns and the right to treatment 
  3. Provide information about legal rights and options 
  4. Help communicate with hospital staff and police 
  5. Assist with immediate needs such as transportation, shelter referrals, or clothing 
  6. Help connect to other services such as counseling 
  7. Assist in accessing follow up medical treatment such as emergency contraception or other pregnancy options
  8. Assist in resolving hospital bills you may have received for emergency treatment (survivors should not be billed)

Legal advocacy:

  1. Provide information about legal rights and options, including information about relevant Illinois laws (ESC legal advocates do not provide legal advice) 
  2. Accompany survivors to file a police report and/or meet with law enforcement 
  3. Help file for Crime Victims Compensation
  4. Assist in filing a petition for a protective order against the person who perpetrated the harm
  5. Provide referrals and support for services
