This has been our story at Carrying Heroes.  When we rescue horses from shipping to slaughter, those horses and their journeys of recovery touch the lives of the men and women who come to us for stress-relief and peace. The horses and their journeys bring them hope.  "As I struggled with my own health - Braveheart gave me inspiration and hope. If he could do it, so could I." One veteran told us in these exact words, "You saved my life. You honestly did." And we want to save more. Horse and human. There are hundreds of horses every week whose fate has been sealed for slaughter unless someone intervenes. If you are unfamiliar with the world of horse slaughter there are many articles and videos that speak about the less-than humane practices along the way. Our own horses we've rescued from slaughter were starved, one to the point of passing. They need our help. And we can't do it alone. We are on a mission this summer to save more.
