Dear Friends and Supporters, I am reaching out with a heartfelt plea to support Pretty Rick’s 10th Annual Rockaway Beach Memorial BBQ Concert—a special event that celebrates the life and legacy of my baby brother, Jovan Riccardo aka Pretty Rick, who tragically passed away from a fatal cerebral aneurysm on January 10, 2011, at just 27 years old. Ricky was full of life. He loved his family, his friends, his music, and his community. As a Family Associate for the NYC Department of Education, he worked tirelessly to support students and families navigating transitional housing. He brought joy to every room, and his passion for music, food, and bringing people together made him unforgettable. To honor his memory, what started as a small family BBQ in 2011 has evolved into a powerful community event—an annual day of music, food, and togetherness. This year will mark the 10th year at the Beach 17th Street Bandshell in Far Rockaway, and we need your help to keep it going! How Your Support Makes a DifferenceYour investment will help: 🎵 Pay the talented musicians who bring the energy and soul to this concert. 🎒 Provide book bags and school supplies for local children. 🍔 Cover food and refreshments so that all attendees can enjoy a great meal. 🏖️ Supply beach toys and activities to bring joy to neighborhood kids. The bands who have performed have done so for free for many years, and thanks to past generous donors, I’ve been able to offer some compensation in recent years. But we want to do more! With your support, we can make this year’s event bigger and better than ever. How You Can HelpWe’ve set up a Zeffy fundraiser drive to reach our funding goal. No amount is too small—every dollar helps keep this tradition alive and meaningful for our Rockaway community. 📅 Event Date: August 2, 2025 📍 Location: Beach 17th Street Bandshell, Far Rockaway, Queens ⏰ Time: 12 PM – 7 PM Please consider investing and sharing this campaign with others who believe in the power of music, community, and giving back. Your investment will help honor Ricky’s memory and continue the work he loved—bringing people together and supporting those in need.Thank you in advance for your kindness and support.
