Sterling&#39;s next chapter is on the line.&nbsp;This is not simply about preserving assets. It is about demonstrating that education can once again connect meaningful work, community and conservation with everyday life. The model is intentionally practical, financially diversified, and designed to evolve while remaining rooted in the values that have defined Sterling and its rural community for generations. The Sterling Institute is being developed in close collaboration with a growing network of organizations working across conservation, education, agriculture, community development, workforce training, watershed stewardship, outdoor recreation, entrepreneurship, and the arts.&nbsp; Leadership commitments totaling approximately $300,000 have already been pledged by Sterling alumni and former faculty in a remarkably short period of time. That extraordinary early response gives us confidence that this effort can succeed. It is clear that we will need to raise $900,000 to ensure that Sterling&#39;s 65-year legacy, including its 501(c)(3) charter, endowment, intellectual property, and invaluable alumni records, can be preserved and entrusted to the next generation through the renewed Sterling Institute. An additional $700,000 will be necessary to launch the program. Fifty years ago, a small group of us believed we could build an entirely different kind of educational institution. Most people thought it couldn&#39;t be done. Together, students, faculty, alumni, families, and friends proved otherwise. We strongly believe we have that opportunity once again.
