A fluffy white dog stands on a grassy lawn with a person's legs and a brick wall in the background.

Yesterday, a tiny 13-week-old, 8-pound puppy named Woofie (Now renamed Yeti) was facing a euthanasia deadline at Dallas Animal Services. When we first saw his photos, we knew he needed help. But once we were able to examine him in person, we realized this wasn't a straightforward case. Yeti's face is covered in painful scabs and wounds. His paws are red, swollen, and infected. His belly is inflamed. He's constantly itching and uncomfortable, and he also has a painful ear infection. While we have several possible diagnoses on our list, including allergies, infection, and other underlying skin conditions, nothing completely explains what we're seeing. This is exactly why the Atlas Pet Vets Medical Rescue Fund stepped in. Yeti deserves more than guesses. He deserves answers. What Happens Next? Before we can treat the problem, we need to identify the cause. Yeti's treatment plan includes:🐾 Sedation so we can thoroughly examine his painful skin🐾 Skin and ear cytology testing to identify bacteria, yeast, or other infectious causes🐾 Wound cleaning and medicated baths to remove debris, soothe inflammation, and begin healing his skin🐾 Treatment for his ear infection🐾 Cytopoint injection to provide relief from severe itching🐾 Credelio and Interceptor Plus to eliminate parasites and rule out conditions such as mange🐾 A prescription hydrolyzed diet trial to determine whether a food allergy is contributing to his condition🐾 Additional medications as needed, including antibiotics, topical therapies, and anti-inflammatory treatment based on diagnostic findings🐾 Follow-up visits and monitoring to track his progress and adjust treatment as we learn moreOur goal is simple: determine what's causing Yeti's condition, relieve his pain, heal his skin, and give him the chance to grow into a happy, healthy puppy. A Partnership Built for SuccessMedical care is only one piece of the puzzle. That's why we're incredibly grateful to partner with Humane Tomorrow. While Atlas focuses on solving Yeti's medical mystery and providing the specialized veterinary care he needs, Humane Tomorrow is providing foster and adoption support to ensure he has a safe place to heal and, ultimately, find a loving forever home.Together, we're a powerful team giving Yeti every chance to succeed.
