A - Z FUNDThe A to Z Fund: direct grants to Maine artists$500 to start a project. $1,000 to continue one. $2,000 to complete one. No long application. Grants are awarded by a review panel according to published criteria, and every artist documents how the money was spent. The Fund is a program of A Thousand WordZ, a community arts organization founded in Oakland in 2005 and rooted in Portland, Maine since 2018. It launches at Roots & Routes, Wednesday, November 18, 2026, 5 to 8 PM at Live at Madrid's, 144 Fore Street, Portland. The first round of grants opens in January 2027. How to help: Give. Every dollar goes to artists. The evening itself is paid for by tickets and the bar; donations are not spent on the room, the sound, or the musicians. Share. Send this page to one person who gives. That is worth more than any post we could write. Show up. Tickets go on sale October 13 at athousandwordz.net.Indigo Arts Alliance is fiscal sponsor of A Thousand WordZ's Roots & Routes. Gifts are tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law.
