Please consider supporting the Minnesota Chapter of the American Association of Teachers of German (MNAATG).  In May of 2024, we are hosting the awards banquet for the National German Exam. We are inviting students from Minnesota who took the National German exam in 2023 and 2024 to celebrate with us.  During the ceremony, we present awards to high school students, the Minnesota German Teacher of the Year, and the Minnesota Undergraduate Student of the Year.  This year will be double the excitement because we have also invited previous year’s award winners! This is why we need your support more than ever. For our guest speakers, we will be inviting students who received the AATG travel award and traveled to Germany to speak about their experiences and the impacts of the award on their lives. The event has historically been a wonderful celebration of academic achievement in German and has helped to foster connections among German teachers and provide students with an affirmation that studying German is both rewarding and relevant to their future.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, MN AATG was not able to host a banquet for the award winners over the past few years. This will be the first banquet since 2020, and we would like to make it an extra special event for the students, families, and educators who have invested time and energy into the future of German learning and education in Minnesota. 

Traditionally, we have not charged students receiving awards and their teachers for their meals at the banquet. To continue this tradition, I am reaching out to see if you would be interested in donating to cover the cost of some of the meals. Any support you could provide would be greatly appreciated and would help support this event. MNAATG is a 501(c)(3) organization; all donations are tax-deductible.

Each contributing individual or organization will be recognized and thanked by name during this year's awards ceremony. In addition, a list of donors appears on the banquet program to honor your support of Minnesota’s high school and college students and teachers of German.

In addition to helping support this year’s (and next year’s!) banquet, your contribution may also be used to support professional development opportunities for German teachers in the state so that they may offer the best possible German language education.
