We are a new nonprofit organization in West Virginia that will give comforting items to people in Kanawha County who are receiving chemo or radiation treatment for cancer.  I started this nonprofit in honor of my dear friend who passed away from cancer. After her diagnosis, she sought help from friends to purchase items for her that would provide her some comfort and alleviate some of the side effects while she received treatment.  Our mission at Give Comfort is to provide, free of charge, comforting items for all folks in our area receiving chemo or radiation treatment for cancer. We understand that each person may request different items, and we will strive to fulfill all requests.  Ideally, we will raise enough funds to purchase all gifts for and deliver directly to, all applicants. During our baby stages, we will seek help from the community with purchasing items off of Amazon wishlists or Target registries, for example. One day, we would like to expand beyond Kanawha County. Our immediate need is to raise money to cover certain overhead costs. The first $600 will go directly to paying the fee to apply for 501c3 status. This is important to us so that we may seek grants and to prove to our future donors/sponsors that we are a true nonprofit, not just by registration with the State and bylaws. Next up is the need for office equipment and supplies, marketing, shipping costs, software, etc.  We would love to have our application to the IRS next month. We would also love to have a reasonably priced laptop or Chromebook strictly for business purposes. We may need a separate phone line in the near future. Once we can get these overhead costs out of the way, we plan to get very busy making sure that all local cancer patients receiving chemo or radiation know about us and have an opportunity to apply for and receive comforting gifts.  Thank you so much for your consideration of Give Comfort, Inc.
