HOPE. GROWTH. LIFE.  Mercy Tree Haiti is a grassroots organization based in a small village outside of Cap-Haitien, Haiti. Founder Eliska Norcius returned to his hometown after attending Bible school, and really wanted to pour in the lives of young people in his community. Beginning with a simple Sunday school to share the Gospel and other Bible stories, the group grew to 150 children on a weekly basis. While hearing about their hopes and dreams, Eliska had an idea to offer some practical training so that they had skills to lift themselves out of poverty. He started a sewing class in 2020 and it was soon filled up. Since then, MTH has grown to include a welding course, tiling class, plumbing class, culinary arts class, and driving school! Not only are we training the next generation both spiritually and physically, all ten staff and teachers live locally. They are able to work and support their own families in the place they grew up, without having to move to the big cities to find jobs.  The teachers are very intentional in their relationship-building approach with the students, always starting with the Biblical foundation of doing everything for God's glory, and working alongside other local churches and ministries. These deep relationships open many doors to share the gospel and disciple the youth in their identity in Christ.  Mercy Tree Haiti is a 501(c)3 tax-exempt non-profit. All US-based volunteers are unpaid, so that the funds are transparent and able to support the Haitian staff and cover expenses for the vocational school materials and construction.
