At Cushing's Support and Research Foundation, we know that we will be the authors of the change we need to see for ourselves and for future generations of patients.  Every story shared, every act of advocacy and kindness, and every dollar donated connects us to our mission. Each year, April is dedicated to raising awareness for Cushing’s Syndrome/Disease—a life-altering condition caused by excess cortisol in the body.  Though many forms of Cushing’s are rare, there are still thousands of new diagnoses around the world every year.  Chronically elevated cortisol can lead to severe symptoms that are often misdiagnosed in the beginning - weight gain, high blood pressure, diabetes, and bone fractures are common. For most patients, the journey to a correct diagnosis is long and challenging. With your help, we will begin offering funding for new research in 2026 that works toward broader and earlier screening and focuses on complex quality of life and persistent post-surgical challenges.  This Cushing’s Awareness Month, we’re calling on you to support vital research and help elevate awareness. What Your Donation Will Do<ol><li style="box-sizing:inherit">Fund Research: Contributions will fund relevant and timely research focused on topics of highest interest and importance to the patient community.</li><li style="box-sizing:inherit">Increase Awareness: The official establishment of our research fund in conjunction with our patient registry roll out at the end of this year will attract the interest of a wider set of researchers who might not have otherwise thought to look deeply into the unmet needs of our patient population.  </li><li style="box-sizing:inherit">Support the Community: We are on the cusp of normalization of cortisol screening at a much earlier point in the diagnostic journey.  Our community is about to get a lot larger.  We have some great resources in place but there's lots of room for plenty more.  By attracting "new eyes" to the Cushing's cause, we can begin to address our unmet needs via collaborations with scientists who specialize in some of the non-endocrine issues faced by those in and even long past active Cushing's.</li></ol>How You Can Help<ul><li style="box-sizing:inherit">Make a Donation: Every dollar helps us more deeply support these amazing breakthroughs in Cushing’s research, and there is no such thing as too small of a donation!</li><li style="box-sizing:inherit">Spread the Word: Use your access and reach to raise awareness!
