Hello Fellow Texas Community!We need your help to support rural and low income families to make their pregnancy, birth and postpartum safer.  Our non profit, Ma Bailey Ministries, exists to help expecting mothers receive the quality care they need to safely bring their children into the world. We offer care for the time periods before and after the birth of the baby with short term housing, prenatal support, postpartum support, as well as soon-to-be clinical prenatal care and mental health support.  Founder Ruth is a born Austin-ite who seeks to make Texas families stronger. Ruth has worked with expecting and postpartum families since 2010 by supporting families in need through doula care and now as a licensed midwife as well providing prenatal visits as well as postpartum recovery and newborn care.  What we aim to do:<ul><li>Provide a short term living space for rural families to stay in close proximity to advanced healthcare providers, hospitals, NICUs and other necessary specialists.</li><li>Provide on-site prenatal and postpartum care for families with financial or geographic barriers to care.</li><li>Provide classes, professional training and ongoing parenting support for the community. </li><li>Provide Women’s clinic for prenatal and postpartum care for home and hospital births, as well as clinical mental health support.</li></ul> Our Back Story: In 2007, she learned of <a href="https://thefarmmidwives.org/">The Farm in Tennessee</a>, an organization founded in the 70’s which offered prenatal care, birth support and communal living on a 1700 acre plot of land. Many young mothers came looking for help and asking The Farm to adopt their babies as they didn’t feel adequate on their own. Through The Farm’s support with prenatal care, birth and early parenting, many of these mothers became empowered to then raise their children on their own.  Ruth has felt called to create ‘Ma Bailey’s’ since 2014, a place where the weary can rest their feet, be filled up and sent back out into the world. She has envisioned creating a similar place as the Farm where other can rest, recover, and be nurtured to prepare them for confident parenting as they return to their home communities. In partnering with other midwives in the Austin Community, and completing construction on 4 buildings on 16 acres, we can now reach more of these families in need and help equip them as mothers.  We currently provide four dwellings nestled in the hill country and surrounded by nature. Each unit has a bedroom, full bath and a kitchenette, able to accommodate a family of four. They are furnished with the common necessities, creating a comfortable and home-like environment. We provide all medical supplies needed for normal postpartum recovery and newborn care.  Here’s the gaps we aim to fill:  <ol><li>Short term housing to improve access to care  We can offer short term housing in the last weeks of pregnancy and early weeks postpartum for families on wait lists for long term housing, or who travel from out of town into Austin to have their baby. Many families face traveling significant distances while in labor to their hospital or birth center. We offer housing for families before birth or after hospital discharge to give them tools to confidently return home.</li></ol> Our location is:10 minutes from a St. David’s Leander Hospital (opening 2025)20-30 minutes from 3 major hospitals with NICUs15 minutes from the new Dell Children’s Hospital <ol><li>Support after trauma, loss or those with perinatal mental health needs:  After a difficult or traumatic delivery, families may be sent home within 24-48 hours after birth with anxiety, trauma and little preparation of how to care for themselves or their babies. These families need specialized postpartum care as they process their experiences and regain their confidence. We provide hands-on support for emotional and physical recovery, nursing and newborn care education from our team of postpartum doulas. When indicated we connect them with mental health professionals who can provide therapeutic support for families experiencing trauma, loss, or other perinatal mood disorders. </li></ol> Women’s Clinic:   Ma Bailey’s desires to serve families with full prenatal and postpartum care during the reproductive years.  Prenatal care is offered to clients on wait lists for providers or are unable to afford care, specifically families on Medicaid, who have unique limitations finding a care provider. For families who desire hospital birth, we can provide prenatal care, and accompaniment to the hospital as well as postnatal care including lab work and screening, as well as breastfeeding and newborn care education.    Here’s how YOU can help:<ol><li>SPREAD the word with your circle!
