Calnet is one of California's first multi-site wide-area-coverage amateur radio repeater systems since 1985. Amateur radio is one of the few options for young and old to gain and enjoy a broad set of technical skills.   We provide communications resources for the amateur radio community to support public service interests for charity events, training, and options for emergency conditions.    Calnet has communications resources at 17 high-level radio sites in Northern and Southern California and growth plans to extend coverage with more sites and systems to support more local and statewide needs in under-served areas. Calnet owner/operators provide most/all of the equipment, but each radio site we occupy carries recurring annual occupancy costs for equipment space, antennas and power - ranging from $500 to $2000 annually. Covering these costs comes from system owners, and the generosity of our community of users, as well as the general public - family, friends, and groups we provide communications for.   We welcome and appreciate your generous supporting contributions!
