HELP PALS NO-KILL CAT SHELTER KEEP THE DOORS OPEN! For the past 45 years, PALS No-Kill Cat Shelter has been rescuing and re-homing up to 500-600 cats annually. We have gained a reputation over the years for taking in cats that other shelters won’t or can’t take – the elderly, the FIV+, the poorly socialized – in essence morphing from a shelter that provides a temporary home for cats into a shelter plus sanctuary for cats that are considered by many to be “unadoptable” and who often remain with us for months, if not years. This is very rewarding work, but it is also very expensive. PALS receives no federal, state or municipal funding. We rely on adoption fees, fundraisers, donations and grants to keep our doors open. In this current economy, donations are considerably lower and costs dramatically higher. Right now, we find ourselves with a serious cash flow issue. To keep the shelter open for the long-term, some short-term, difficult decisions must be made. Sadly, staff layoffs may be necessary, and we may be forced into temporary partial or even full closure to the public due to reduced staff. No one wants this to happen, but we have no choice under current circumstances. You can help us keep our doors open and our staff fully employed in rescuing our feline friends. PALS is starting a “Be a PAL” campaign to raise enough funds to avoid the above drastic measures.
