We envision communities where families and individuals are restored, equipped, housed, and thriving—spiritually, emotionally, physically, and economically. Family Life Resource Center seeks to become a trusted community resource for individuals and families facing housing instability and life transitions.  We envision developing pathways to safe, stable, and supportive housing for people who are experiencing a housing crisis, while also providing the resources, education, training, and connections necessary to move from crisis to stability and ultimately toward self-sufficiency.  A significant part of this vision is to address the housing needs of individuals returning to the community after incarceration, particularly those re-entering the Union County and Essex County communities.  We desire to help remove the housing barrier that can make successful re-entry difficult by connecting returning citizens with safe housing, employment resources, life-skills training, financial education, and community support. We also envision providing support for women and children experiencing displacement or instability, including women and children involved in foster care situations or those who have lost stable housing.  Our goal is to create safe pathways where women and children can receive temporary housing support, resources, referrals, encouragement, and practical assistance while working toward permanent stability.  Another priority is young adults aging out of foster care—including those who leave care at age 18, those who have voluntarily exited services, and those who reach the age at which foster-care services end.  We envision developing housing opportunities that provide these young adults with a safe place to sleep, supportive relationships, life-skills development, employment and educational resources, and a foundation from which they can build independent lives.  Our vision includes the development of a housing assistance and transitional housing initiative that can provide beds and safe housing options for people who have nowhere else to go.
