At Keep Growing Dreams, we believe that effective wellness programming must be rooted in authentic cultural knowledge. To deepen our capacity, our incoming Wellness Coordinator is undertaking a structured, month long continuing education practicum in Tanzania, studying directly with Indigenous practitioners in herbalism, food medicine, and community ritual. Our incoming Wellbeing Coordinator will receive hands-on training in: - Traditional Herbalism &amp; Medicine-Making &ndash; Learning plant-based healing protocols alongside local experts in Dar es Salaam and Mbeya, including direct instruction on traditional Cacao ceremony practices.&middot; Food-as-Medicine&nbsp; -Traditions &ndash; Participating in hands-on culinary workshops in Zanzibar to document community-gathering practices and food-based health traditions that we will adapt into local cooking and nutrition programs.&middot; Indigenous&nbsp; -Community-Building Frameworks &ndash; Engaging with Maasai community leaders in Morogoro to study their cooperative models and wellness circle practices, alongside visiting a traditional honey farm to understand its role in community health. What your donation funds: The $6,600 goal covers practitioner instruction fees, local program coordination, shared training materials, and essential supplies that our Coordinator will bring back as permanent assets for Keep Growing Dreams. The measurable impact on our community: Upon return, our Coordinator will translate this training into new, replicable programming for our local participants, including seasonal herbal workshops, community cooking gatherings, and facilitated wellness circles. This trip directly fills a gap in our current offerings and in community knowledge. The knowledge brought back increases access to cultural wellness modalities that are otherwise inaccessible to our community. Note: While this training takes place abroad, 100% of the instruction and materials acquired are dedicated to developing free and low-cost public programming for our Portland-based community upon return.
