Byron Tapp is running the Leadville 100 again this year as a charity runner, for the second consecutive year. For me, the Leadville 100 symbolizes what people living with mental illness face every day. They push through incredibly hard challenges that don&rsquo;t necessarily get easier. They are often misunderstood, feel isolated, and can&rsquo;t&mdash;and shouldn&rsquo;t have to&mdash;do it alone. I am running for three reasons: 1. To bring attention and awareness to mental illness.2. To make a small difference by supporting those living with mental illness and the people who love them in West Texas.3. Above all, to offer HOPE to those facing what feels impossibly hard every single day&mdash;to simply keep going. In 2025, we set a goal of raising $100,000&mdash;and we accomplished it, reaching that goal about a month after the race. But the experience of running Leadville taught me much more than I ever expected. I didn&rsquo;t finish the race. After a lot of reflection and conversations with my wife, close friends, my coach, and my Antioch Wealth Management team, I decided to get back up and commit to attempting the Leadville 100 again in 2026. Last year, I went into the race believing I could accomplish whatever I set my mind to. Looking back, I realize I was focused on finishing rather than simply attempting. Not finishing gave me a deeper understanding of the daily struggles faced by people living with mental illness. For many, life does not provide a level playing field. Things that may seem simple&mdash;getting or keeping a job, maintaining relationships, accomplishing everyday tasks, or pursuing a goal&mdash;can feel incredibly difficult. It seems fitting that I trained and fought incredibly hard to accomplish something, and I failed. I decided to do what I would hope, encourage and pray for those struggling with similar situations in life that hold much larger consequences than finishing a race. &nbsp;&ldquo;The result or accomplishment is not the focus, but in order to keep going in life you have to keep going, keep trying and never give up.&rdquo; &nbsp;So, I got back up, recommitted to &ldquo;attempting&rdquo; the 2026 Leadville 100 Mile Trail Run, but this time with a different point of view. This year, my goal remains the same: to bring awareness to mental illness and the impact it has on those who live with it, as well as their families, friends, and caregivers. We don&rsquo;t have a specific $100,000 fundraising goal this year. It&rsquo;s simply the next $100,000, then the next, and then the next. Thank you for supporting our mission.
