The mission of the Tiff City Volunteer Fire Department Rescue Airboat Fundraiser is to raise the funds necessary to cover the initial cost of and to equip our dedicated Rescue Airboat. &nbsp;This boat will provide our firefighters and rescue personnel with the capability to respond safely, quickly, and effectively to water search and rescue, flood rescue, swift-water emergencies, and recovery incidents throughout our community and surrounding areas. We are dispatched to numerous Water emergencies, and they present some of the most difficult and dangerous situations faced by emergency responders. Floodwaters, swift currents, shallow water, debris, mud, ice, and areas inaccessible by conventional rescue boats can prevent rescuers from reaching victims when every minute matters. A properly equipped Rescue Airboat will allow our department to reach areas that would otherwise be extremely difficult&mdash;or impossible&mdash;to access safely. This Rescue Airboat will be supported by personnel receiving specialized training specifically for these types of emergencies. The Tiff City Volunteer Fire Department is assembling a Dive Rescue Team, whose members will complete professional Rescue Diver certifications, along with a dedicated team trained in Flood Rescue and Swift Water Rescue operations. Our goal is not simply to purchase a boat. Our goal is to build a complete, trained, properly equipped water rescue capability that can save lives. As a volunteer fire department, accomplishing this mission depends heavily upon the generosity of individuals, businesses, organizations, and community partners. Donations to this project will help provide the specialized equipment and training necessary to place this Rescue Airboat and its trained personnel into service.The Rescue Airboat will be an important regional resource, available to assist during water-related emergencies wherever our department and specialized rescue personnel are needed. When someone is stranded, missing, or in danger on the water, access and response time can mean the difference between rescue and tragedy.
