No child should carry the loss of a parent alone. CG Legacy Project was founded by James Grimm and Rex Martin. Each of them lost a parent at a young age: James lost his father, Gery Grimm, and Rex lost his mother, Cynthia Martin. They know firsthand how a loss like that affects everything, from schoolwork and friendships to the everyday costs of being a kid. They also know how isolating it can feel when no one around you understands what you’re going through. We started this project to honor Cynthia and Gery by doing for other kids what they always did for the people they loved: showing up, giving generously, and making sure no one feels forgotten. Where your donation goes Every dollar supports children and teens in Central Florida who have lost one or both parents. Working with local schools and grief support organizations, we use donations to provide:

School supplies and backpacks, so kids start each school year prepared.

Holiday gifts, so the hardest season of the year still has moments of joy.

Comfort kits, a soft blanket, a stuffed animal, a journal, and a note of encouragement. Grief centers often give these to newly bereaved kids.

Memory kits, a photo frame, a memory journal, or a small keepsake box where kids can keep things that remind them of their parent.

Birthday boxes, a cake mix, candles, decorations, and a small gift, since birthdays can be tough without a parent.

Graduation gifts or a small scholarship, a gift card, or a $250–$500 award for high school seniors who’ve lost a parent. A scholarship in Cynthia and Gery’s names would be a meaningful legacy.

Sports and activity fees, helping cover a season of youth baseball, dance, or summer camp so kids can keep doing what they love.

Clothes and shoes, gift cards for back-to-school clothes or new sneakers.

Books and reading, new books for younger kids, or e-reader gift cards for teens.

Calculators or headphones, school tech that many families struggle to afford.

What your gift can do

$10: notebooks, pencils, and folders for one student

$20: new books for a young reader

$25: a full set of school supplies for one student

$25: a birthday box with cake mix, candles, decorations, and a small gift, because birthdays can be hard without a parent

$30: a comfort kit with a soft blanket, a stuffed animal, a journal, and a note of encouragement for a grieving child

$30: a memory kit with a photo frame, a memory journal, and a keepsake box to hold special reminders of their parent

$40: a calculator or headphones for school

$50: a new backpack filled with school supplies

$50: new sneakers or back-to-school clothes

$100: holiday gifts for a family, so the hardest season of the year still has moments of joy

$150: a season of youth sports, dance, or summer camp, so kids can keep doing what they love

$250: back-to-school supplies for ten students

Any amount: helps wherever the need is greatest

We’re a small, volunteer-run organization, so your donation goes straight to the kids we serve.
