Hi, my name is Tia and I'm hoping to find some help for my parents. We don't have a crazy or tragic story. We're just a family struggling to get by. It all started 4 years ago when my father was "surplused" from At&t. He was with the company for 19 years and 6 months. My dad has applied for job after job and has only been called in for an interview a handful of times. He has exhausted his unemployment and covid was a double edged sword. Although a hard time for all it also helped save people like my parents.
My mom isn't the healthiest and still tried her best to get a job. Even though she can barely walk she got a job folding laundry. The employees ended up being rude and treating her unfairly. On top of that she stayed but life is tricky. My moms status for working kept coming back illegal. My dad would call and they would fix it but after the third time the company let her go. It took several months to get it all sorted it out and as you can imagine was extremely frustrating. In the end though, this made us realize that her body just isn't in any condition to truly work.
Unfortunately the time has come and now they need more help than I can give. I've also exhausted my paychecks and can't afford to support both my kids and my parents. They're currently gathering everything they can to take to the pawn shop and do a yard sale.
My parents have lived in the same house for 35+ years, but through an unfortunately timed refinance, the house still has $137,000 left to pay on it. The power company has shut their power off twice in the last month and want $300+ for the back pay plus the monthly usage, about $600 total. They have pets they love deeply and every last penny they have they spend on them.
I've tried for years to help but I just can't do it anymore. I don't make a lot of money and am starting to struggle to support my kids and myself as well. If you could find it in your heart to donate we would honestly appreciate it more than we can ever express in words. Thank you!
