The Crochet Ceiling Down Church Alley is a community-wide project modeled after New Iberia's Sister City, Alhaurín de la Torre, Spain's summerlong crochet ceilings over their city streets. Our crochet ceiling (in it's fifth year in 2026) is located over the City of New Iberia Church Alley pocket park in downtown New Iberia. It is installed for display during the spring months in honor of the annual New Iberia Spanish Festival, which celebrates the founding of New Iberia by the Spanish back in 1779. The panels for the Crochet Ceiling are designed, submitted, and donated by area crochet enthusiasts.
