David Truax: Coming Home to Sassandra Four generations. Two continents. One calling.&nbsp; I was born in C&ocirc;te d&#39;Ivoire, West Africa&mdash;a place that was my family&#39;s home for fifteen years while my parents served as missionaries. Together with my grandparents, they carried a deep calling to Africa. In the southern town of Sassandra and across the region, they planted roots that are still growing today, helping to build seven churches and shape a community.&nbsp; I was only one year old when we left for the United States, so I have no memories of my own of that place. But it shaped my family, and in many ways, it shaped me before I could even understand it. For years, I&rsquo;ve felt a quiet pull to return, but the timing never seemed right.&nbsp; In 2021, my father passed away. Losing him was one of the hardest things I&rsquo;ve ever walked through. Long before I was born, my dad prayed that God would give him a son who would be a mighty servant for His kingdom. That prayer stayed with me, echoing loudly at his funeral when Jay Ayers Jr.&mdash;a close friend of my dad&rsquo;s and a fellow missionary kid&mdash;put his hand on my shoulder and said, &quot;David, if you ever want to return to Africa, see the work your dad started, and visit where you were born&mdash;let me know.&quot;&nbsp; Five years later, I am finally ready to go.&nbsp; Through Millions for Missions, I am embarking on a 14-day trip back to C&ocirc;te d&#39;Ivoire in November 2026. Part of this journey is deeply personal: to stand for the first time in my adult life in the country where my story began, and to see the seven churches built by faithful people who believed in something bigger than themselves.&nbsp; But this trip is also a spiritual crossroad. I am going not just to look back, but to look forward&mdash;seeking God&#39;s specific calling for my own life and asking Him to show me where and how He wants to use me next.&nbsp; We are going with open hands, ready to serve alongside local leaders through outreach programs, helping wherever there is a need&mdash;large or small. I want to see firsthand the fruit of the work my family helped start over 30 years ago and discover how I can carry that torch into the future.&nbsp; To make this trip a reality, my goal is to raise $3,800. These funds will directly cover flights, in-country travel, lodging, and outreach materials for the communities we will be serving.&nbsp; I am asking for your partnership in this next chapter&mdash;not only to help me fund this mission, but to stand with me in prayer as I seek God&#39;s direction for my life.
