Two in five households in RI have difficulty affording adequate food. This is higher than any levels before the pandemic in 2020.

Food insecurity is up 31% over 2023 rates, and increasing costs of food, rent, utilities, transportation and other basic necessities suggest this trend won't improve any time soon.

During a regular school day, 62,000 children participate in free or reduced school meal programs - and we consistently hear from school administrators and nurses that these are often the only balanced meal they take in daily.

Sixty-six percent (66%) of households that visit food pantries include a child or senior.
