A black and white logo featuring the word "OTO" styled as a moth with wings, set against a plain white background with "ARTS & MUSIC" and "PORTLAND OLD TOWN" written below.

Culture is infrastructure. Even the underground has overhead. OTO exists because people have shown up. They’ve contributed their time, their skills, and a frankly unreasonable amount of energy to bring an independent arts and music space to life in Portland’s Old Town. Building and running OTO has been an entirely volunteer effort. Together, we’re creating a place to play your music. Show your work. Try something new. Find your people. Now we’re asking you to help keep that place going. Help us raise $25,000 by December 31, 2026, to cover rent, insurance, essential operating costs, and a much-needed sound system upgrade. Old Town knows what a room full of musicians and misfits can mean to a city. Satyricon, here on NW Sixth Avenue, helped shape Portland’s punk and underground rock scene. People found a stage, an audience, and other people who understood why any of it mattered. The next generation needs somewhere to make some noise, too. At 435 NW 6th Avenue, OTO brings together artists, musicians, makers, and neighbors. We’re making room for performances, exhibitions, learning, collaboration, and ideas that haven’t learned to behave themselves. Our moth belongs here: a creature of the night, drawn toward light, a symbol of transformation and new beginnings. That spirit runs through OTO—people finding one another, trying something unfamiliar, and making something worth gathering around. For everyone drawn to a little light and a lot of noise. Your donation helps give that gathering a lasting home. Here’s what we’re raising money for:

$7,500 — Rent through the end of the year. Three months at $2,500 per month.

$7,500 — A rent reserve for slower periods. Three additional months of breathing room.

$7,500 — A sound system that supports the work. Upgraded powered speakers and a subwoofer, a digital mixer, microphones, stands, cables, and the supporting equipment that makes performances possible.

$2,500 — Insurance and everyday essentials. Essential operating expenses and necessary improvements to the space.

Help artists be heard—and take home more. When donations help cover our operating costs, we can direct more of our program and event revenue to artists and performers. Your support helps sustain the place and creates more room to support the people bringing it to life. Our volunteers bring the energy. Your donation helps keep a roof over it. Become one of OTO’s first 50 monthly supporters. A one-time gift helps us build this foundation. A monthly gift helps us maintain it. Give $10, $25, $50, or whatever works for you. Fifty people giving $50 a month would cover our base rent. Every recurring gift helps us plan beyond the next bill. Keep the doors open. Help artists and performers take home more. Give Old Town’s next chapter somewhere to happen. Donate today. Share the campaign. Bring someone who needs a place like this. Culture is infrastructure. Let’s keep building it.
