Suicidal ideation remains the most stigmatized symptom of mental health disorders and most prevention efforts focus on being able to identify the symptoms in others to prevent it. The problem is most people experiencing suicidal ideation hide it. Dance Walking Fool teaches the skills of having that awkward and life saving conversation. The Peer Support  Training Class is for everyone. You will learn how and who to ask for support and you will learn how to listen with compassion and nonjudgement to someone's despair. You will also be taught the questions to ask to assess whether emergency intervention is needed. Your donations allow me to give gratis speeches like I did today at the Elk Lodge's Veteran Luncheon today, 11/13/24 in Sebring, FL. Thank you for donating today! Dance Walking Fool, INC (EIN Number 87-3464982) is a suicide prevention nonprofit that offers:  1) Social Emotional Learning (SEL) classes customized to the audience’s needs. We currently offer programs to students grades 6-12, teachers and school administrators, first responders, veterans, and in corporate settings. 2) Peer Support Training is a class for everyone on how to navigate the awkward and often avoided conversation about suicidal ideation. This training teaches how to ask for support when you are having suicidal thoughts and how to listen empathetically to someone having these thoughts. Not all of these conversations require a 911 or 988 call and we provide discussion criteria to help you evaluate whether emergency intervention is needed. 3) Grief Support In honor of Buddy Check 22, a Veterans program that encourages people to call a veteran on the 22nd of each month to check in as a suicide prevention measure in honor of the fact that 22 veterans die by suicide each day. Starting on November 22nd, I will host a free Zoom meeting for grief support for those who have lost a loved one to suicide. This is a safe place where you can share your thoughts and feelings with peers. Survivors are at a greater risk for having suicidal ideation themselves in response to the death of their loved one. This is a FREE support group and your donations help cover the administrative costs associated with it. We also offer Healing Circle Honorariums to honor the lives of people who died by suicide. Too often when someone dies by suicide the cause of death is swept under the rug and all the conflicting emotions of the survivors are not expressed or not dealt with. Sometimes there is no celebration at all and the life lost is not honored because of the taboo of suicide. This is most unfortunate that the totality of a person’s life is dismissed because of the way they died. A Healing Circle Honorarium is intended to celebrate the life lost and to also guide their surviving loved ones through all the emotions of complicated grief.  Your donation today helps to support all these programs and allows Dance Walking Fool to offer services on a sliding scale and support administrative costs associated with providing programs.  Dance Walking Fool, INC celebrated its third year of incorporation on November 8, 2024, which is a key milestone for nonprofits as before three years of operation small nonprofits are generally non eligible for larger grants. A key component in qualifying after the third anniversary is showing success with individual donor campaigns. Dance Walking Fool needs your support in achieving this status as we move into our fourth year.  No donation amount is too small and all donations are greatly appreciated. Your donation is tax deductible and you will receive an email with your tax receipt immediately upon submission.
